2020 Submission Guidelines

Submissions are now open for the 2018 Cannes Short Film Festival.

The festival will run September 17 – 20 at Cinéma Pathé Masséna.

Submission Deadlines

The Cannes Short Film Festival 2020 accepts Submissions from November 2019 until August 2020.

Early Submissions Period — November 3, 2019 to January 31, 2020
Early Submissions Deadline — January 31, 2020
Regular Submissions Period — February 1, 2020 to May 29, 2020
Regular Submissions Deadline — May 29, 2020
Late Submissions Period — May 30, 2020 to August 7, 2020
Late Submissions Deadline — August 7, 2020


All filmmakers will be notified before August 17, 2020.


Festival Categories

The Cannes Short Film Festival is open to international films in one of the following categories:

Animated Short
Experimental Short
LGBT Short

Entry Fees

CSFF accepts only digital submissions

Fees for short films: €30 early, €35 regular, €40 late .
Fees for short short films under 5 and music videos: €25 early, €30 regular, €35 late.

We accept only digital submissions.

The Cannes Short Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing new emerging film talent.

All film entries must be submitted digitally and be received by the arrival deadline of August 7, 2020.

If selected to be showcased during the event, all screening copies must be received by Aug 20, 2020.

All photos submitted may be used for any festival promotions.

The festival screens native-language English and French films. Non-English or French language produced films must have English subtitles or be dubbed in English.

All entrants certify that they have been given full rights to use any and all music in their films.

Jury Award winners will be selected by a panel of active film industry professionals. All films go through a screening process and are reviewed by at least two members of the selection committee.

CSFF Nominees agree to participate in the publicity for the Festival as well as other promotional events, including website, social media, international press coverage and festival trailers edited by G. Papinutto of Agence Gamines.

Selected film entries will be notified by August 7, 2020. Awards will be announced after the festival. An Awards Certificate will be awarded to the winners. Some Award categories may have co-sponsors providing prizes. One award or prize will be given to the individual designated on the official entry form as “submitter”.

Filmmakers or screenwriters accepted and attending the festival are responsible for travel, lodging, and all other expenses.
